Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner

I knew I wanted to be a nurse when I read a book about NICU nurses in 8th grade. Though I came to realize NICU wasn’t for me, I’ve been lucky enough to land several jobs I’ve considered my “dream job”. Each position has given me unique opportunities and knowledge. I started my nursing career taking care of adult patients in several settings, which I enjoyed. But, when I got the opportunity to follow my heart and work with children at a Pediatric Hospital in Texas, I never looked back!

I started my career at Children’s National Hospital as a nurse on the Neuroscience unit. After completing graduate school, I worked in a Pediatric private practice for a year and a half. I loved spending so much time with my patients and building relationships with them, but I was missing Neuro and a more acute care environment. In May I started my position as a Pediatric NP with the Neurosurgery team at CNH.

In my free time I like to go hiking in the Shenandoah Valley, bike around Alexandria, and take classes in yoga, barre and ballet. I have a senior (18 years old!) Shih Tzu named Ralphie who likes to come along on hikes, as long as it’s not too hot and he can ride in his back-pack carrier. My partner and I are looking forward to being able to travel internationally again.
